Spectre gives this album 4/5
Dangereous Mac makes his way onto the scene with his dangereously appealing debut album "Remembering". 12 tracks totaling over 40 minutes of intense punk/hard rock are what can be found on this solid and enjoyable release. Strangely, there isn't any track listing or specific order included on this album, but in the end, what really matters is the content itself. That being said...
While "Remebering" is technically sound all around and the songs are put together in a slick fashion, it does unfortunately leave you with that feeling of wanting a little something more. Great melodies and hooks are scattered throughout the album but essentially, there's missing that tiny wow factor to place it amongst the ranks of the top dogs. Elaborating more on this point, the drums, wich, in a positive way, always seem to fit the mood, do tend to be a little monochromatic at times. As for the strings, without taking away from the great chord arrangements, we aren't being offered a wide array of pickings or patterns as most of the guitar and bass hooks are straight up regular strumming and palm muting. Oppositely, an interesting point that deserves mentionning is how every song reflects the message delivered by the title.
For example, "A Story of Sadness" truly sounds like the soundtrack for a lost wandering soul while the song "Our Last Day on Earth" gives off that tragic/climactic effect. "Calm Before the Storm" gradually escalates as you sense the song's intensity climb and "When My Dreams Said Goodbye", really sounds like a farewell ode to somebody or something. When all is said and done, "Remembering" is a very decent freshman release that will please those seeking cool melodies combined with good buildups and a nice dose of intensity.
SPECTRE'S WORD OF ADVICE: @Dangereous Mac, when putting a collection of songs together, the mold needs to be broken at times when it comes to strum patterns and drum accents, otherwise a certain predictability sets in before the listener has even finished their experience.
